For years my studio was a basement and my day job was helping people at a big box store.
At night everything changed.
I’d turn on the soundboard, wait behind a muted mic, and let extraordinary humans invite me into their lives — their struggles, their triumphs, the moments that broke them open and the decisions that put them back together. Bestselling authors. Everest survivors. POWs. People who had stared at impossible and walked toward it anyway.
Every single one tugged at my soul.
I started seeking answers to the hard questions. I started taking risks. I traveled to twenty countries. I was dropped by helicopter onto the side of a mountain in Nepal and stayed with villagers in places most people will never see. I floated in the Dead Sea, filmed a survival show, opened a store in Kathmandu to support women, and flew into Tel Aviv just to sit across from a man with a story worth hearing.
Once I started seeking I was changed.
There was no going back to the girl who helped people find toilet flanges in aisle 8.
In between adventures I built something else entirely. I co-own a remodeling company with my husband, work as a designer, and run a showroom — because it turns out the same instinct that drops you onto a Himalayan mountainside also makes you very good at building things from scratch.
Now I write romcoms. Because every extraordinary journey I’ve ever taken — every mountain, every village, every soul that tugged at mine — taught me the same thing:
Falling in love with a person, a place, or the bravest version of yourself is still the most courageous thing a human being can do.
I’ve been married twenty five years to a man patient enough to love a risk taker. I have wonderful children in my life. On Wednesdays you’ll find me at the shooting range with my girlfriend Kerri. I lift weights, eat good food without guilt, and am completely, unapologetically obsessed with chocolate.
I love to write but I’m terrible at grammar.
Those are the breaks.
Kim Ward has lived in the stories she writes. She’s your passport, your travel companion, and your excuse to fall in love somewhere extraordinary.

She built an empire on Irish blarney she didn’t have.
Now Ireland wants it back.
Riley O’Brien has spent seven seasons being professionally Irish without ever setting foot in the place. When a inherited pub in County Clare and half a million dollars force her to finally show up — heels, judgmental cat, and carefully curated fake accent included — she discovers the hardest thing about going home is that everyone there already knows you’re not.
Thirty days. One pub. And the very real possibility that the life she’s been laughing at for seven years might be the only one worth keeping.
